This unique table was created with exceptionally rare Scottish Burr Walnut. Its contemporary form has been left with a natural live edge, and natural colour, to celebrate this unique piece of wood.
The timber is both rare and unique, taken from some of the last historical pieces of Scottish Burr Walnut in existence. The tree is thought to have grown for hundreds of years on one of the Scottish estates in the Borders. After ethical felling, the timber remained unused for over 50 years before Hownam Studio acquired it.
The Hownam Studio icon is embedded in the walnut end grain.
