A trio of stools crafted from one piece of Scottish Burr Elm. Designed after the Northern & Scottish style of simplicity, with reference to the Towie Sphere.
The ancient and enigmatic 5000 year old Scottish stone sphere is a icon and symbol of power. The spheres' surface pattern is echoed in the carving on the stools. The pattern is both hypnotic and a focus of meditation.
The stool, as an object, has an important place and functional history, within the Scottish home. Simplicity and subtlety of form are combined to create a strong yet elegant series.
Hand torching and inking have been used to impart depth of colour to the wood and to enhance the grain on the blackened surfaces.
The Hownam Studio icon is embedded at the rear of each seat base.
