contemporary interpretations of ceremonial items

Our Heritage objects include contemporary interpretations of ceremonial items that embody cultural importance in Scotland. Others are simply beautiful and functional.

Hownam Studio knives offer another expression. Few in number, they are made using exceptionally rare, resilient and historically significant materials.

The beautiful, durable handles are formed from ancient Tiger Pattern Scottish Bog Oak which has been carbon-dated as 2,900 B.C. Blade sharpness and hardness are exceptional thanks to the use of the worlds finest Damascus steel. Each knife is presented with a handcrafted leather sheath, presentation box and tweed bag, involving up to six of our Scottish artisans in addition to the bladesmith.

You will be acquiring the work of one of the last Scottish master bladesmiths, one of the finest in the world, who has worked for Royal clients, armouries and global private and public collections.
